"Having hearing aids has improved my quality of life. Now that I wear them, I think it was ridiculous that I put off getting them"

Geraldine, Bristol

We are calling on the Government to introduce a national hearing screening programme for everyone aged 65.

Hearing loss is a major public health issue that affects one in six people in the UK. But for too many people the condition goes undiagnosed and unaddressed. And the situation is set to get worse. Most people begin to lose their hearing as they get older - and with an ageing population in the UK, the number of people with hearing loss will exceed 14.5 million by 2031.

That’s why this broad coalition of charities has joined together to call on the Government to take action on a condition that has a large impact across all areas of someone’s life and on wider society.
